Well, it depends partly on how far you're prepared, or have, to carry it. I
intend to carry mine quite far, and in rough country.
That said, I bought a Manfrotto 055Nat2 (Bogen 3221GN), and have 168 (3055),
222Nat (3265G) and 141RCNat (3030G) heads. I know how much I can carry, and
having had a couple of dreadful lightweight tripods in the past I am
actually glad of the extra 'avoirdupois'.
Light and stiff as CF is, snap it and your busted. I can think of
circumstances where that is a distinct possibility. The same considerations
have influenced my decision to stick with steel for bike frames (plus the
ride is STN, IMHO).
