The Bronica is a much smaller camera than the Mamiya 7, but it's not much
lighter. I'm constantly amazed by the weight of the Mamiya, but the 6x7
format dictates a certain size camera. The limiting factor is the height of
the roll film + the top deck. The Bronica is 1/2 the width, but it's
negative is also 1/3 the size of the Mamiya. I've found that the Bronica
feels much smaller than the M-7 in use.

Or even smaller ... Look at the new Bronica 645. It's very nice and
about as small as medium format can get. With it's portrait film
orientation, it's very much like an Olympus Pen FT all-grown-up.

What about that Mamiya 7? Or the Fuji GA645ZI? Both nice and compact
<snip>
No, but I have wondered why Oly or somebody has not designed a medium
format camera in the style of the Epic Stylus. Imagine a 120 camera
just a little bigger than an OM4. It would put off digital for years.

I have used a 7 and it is hardly compact except when compared to
Mamiya SLRs. The Bronica is definitely not compact in spite of the
press hype, essentially the same size as the Mamiya which exposes a
much larger film frame. Check the dimensions. I don't know anything
about the Fuji.
I was talking about very compact in the same way that the Epic Stylus
is probably 1/3 the volume and weight of the OM4 which is already
small.
