I use the Heliopan. It is about the same, and they do not charge extra for a
'thin' one. All of the current Heliopans are thin. The Heliopan is multi-coated
and of excellent quality. I recommend that you don't cheap out here. With the
wide angle of view and the fact that there is no hood in front of the filter
flare is a real problem with cheap filters on this lens, especially under the
conditions you are talking about. I have not used the Hoya myself, so can't
comment on it's quality, but it sounds promising. At the very least you want a
coated filter and it does need to be a thin or 'wide angle' filter.
