And is the Epson really a significant upgrade over a HP colour printer?
We have had an Epson 780 for about 6 mos. It produces beautiful color prints
and especially so when used with the digital output from our C4040 camera.
With that said Epson printers have some quirks that you need to know. First,
in our experience they only work well when used with Epson papers. While
this isn't a big deal, it does confine one to what Epson sells. (any list
members have similar troubles and find a third party paper that does work?)
Second, be sure that you follow the instructions about turning the printer on
and off. If you leave it on all the time the heads get gummed up and you
have to go through the cleaning ritual several times before correct printing
will occur.
We can't address the comparison with HP, but the results we are getting are
really beautiful. You need to decide if the speed and quiet of the 890 is
worth the extra cost.
