Could that be electrical "heat-shrink" ? Don't know what it's called
stateside tho. Plastic / rubbery tubing you put over wires (or anything
really) and it shrinks down when you heat it (hairdryer/ hot-air gun). Can
shrink up to 5 times smaller, with the right stuff !
Have often thought about using this stuff myself ....
Merry whatever-you-celebrate to everyone !

Subject: Re: [OM] preventing "brassing?"
Op-Tech and some other straps come with soft plastic protectors. Several
different design details, but all keep the ring from rubbing. Some still
leave a nylon strap rubbing against the paint, which is ok for chrome
cameras, but not so good long run with black enamel. I bought one black
OM-1 with a strap with snap hooks for quick release from the lug rings.
The owner had put heavy, somewhat flexible vinyl tubing, some kind of
electrical insulation, I think, over the hooks and up to where the strap
widened out. It's an old camera with no wear on the paint from the
strap, so the technique works.
