Mark,
If you were using color negative your assessment *may* be confounded with color balancing from the printer. If you used one lens exclusively for each film roll, my suspicion about this increases. I've found some labs wander all over with color balancing, others very consistently correct each frame to a tight standard. Yet others set the balancing filters on the enlarger using the first frame on the film strip to be printed (may be last frame shot depending on which end is inserted into the printer) and use it for the rest of the film roll.

Assess these possibilities when evaluating color response. I use slide films for testing lenses and camera bodies. It's more demanding of exposure accuracy and removes any confounding a print processor may introduce in print exposure, color balancing and enlarger focusing accuracy. You may wish to try another A/B/C comparison outdoors using the same daylight conditions.

FWIW I have three 50/1.4 MC lenses and haven't noted any color rendition differences between them that cannot be esily attributed to lighting differences. Nor have I noted any differences when compared to my 50/1.2 or any of the other lenses.
