Take my word for it, you do not 'know' about skin cancer until you
have watched someone die from it.
Try bounce flash off a ceiling and perhaps underexposing via use of
the exposure compensation dial.
A lot of your problems from green casts to ghosts could be due to
poor printing. Take a look at your negs with a loupe (a 50mm lens
will do) If you can see lots of detail on the negs in areas which are
washed out in the prints, such as faces, then try taking your negs
back and ask them to print them with a stop or two less exposure than
the originals. The original exposure info may be printed on the back
of the prints by the printing machine.
With respect to green castes and fluorescent lights, you could try
one of the Fuji 4 colour layer films like Reala as they are more
forgiving of fluorescent lights.
