I used to live on a farm in Georgia of about 1,500 acres and on the far side
of the farm over a few hills lived a guy who played the bagpipes. About 1.5
miles away. Many days after school, I could clearly hear him playing and
practicing.
That was close enough for me.

A Scottish lady once told me that bagpipes should be listened to from a
distance - the greater the distance the better.
