It's no different using the Auto-Tube from Extension Tubes or the
Auto-Bellows. You can use any lens you want. The bellows lenses are
specifically designed to be used with extension. The other lenses are not
designed for this use.
I got great high mag images years ago using a reversing adapter; mounting a
50/1.8 backwards on top of a 90/2.5 Vivitar S/1 Macro.

Subject: [OM] Using the 65-116 auto extension tube with other lenses
Date: Tue, 4 Dec 2001 20:17:26 -0800 (PST)
Is it possible to use the 65-116 with normal
lenses/body mounted macro lenses. I have some of the
1:2 life size Zuikos and a vivitar macro
teleconverter, and the pics I have gotten back have
come out very nicely, but I wanted more magnification
power and so I got a tube from a listmember. It hasn't
arrived yet, but I wanted to hear some of your stories
about it. Namely will it work at all with lenses not
specifically designed for it like the 80 or 135mm. If
it does, which lenses does it work well with, and what
magnification can I expect?
I know I should shell out for one of the dedicated
bellows lenses, but my Zuikoholism has gone into
temporary remission and my checkbook couldn't handle
another attack :-)
