Actually, Tom, it was looking through your list of things on sale, that
I stumbled upon the OM-2000. For that price, I might have to pick one
up! That is pretty cheap, and with spot metering, I think that is
great...
Hmm.. Om-2000 (or even an Om-1) + 50mm/f1.8 = $120. I cannot see how
you can beat this as an intro system. With an Om1 + a 50mm/1.8, the
thing is smaller than most of Olympus' new P&S's, so I don't understand
why this line is not being maintained by Olympus.. Zuiko optics are on
par with all the others, and the body's are excellent little bricks that
will last a lifetime. My friend (N*kon user) picked up my OM and
thought it was a toy. The fact that I stick it in my pocket sometimes,
he feels reaffirms that thought. Of course side by side comparisons of
pictures are a whole 'nother story.. And when he heard the price tag
compared to his N*kon.. he just about fainted..
I love my OM!!

Indeed it does, and the new Bessa T has some improvements in
terms of
quality and fittings I believe (stronger, more rigid back door and top
plate, metal fittings). Not to mention the special edition in a choice of
colours with matching Leicavit style base mounted trigger winder.
(and
collapsible Heliar 50mm!) Room for a new OM-2000 with these
improvements?

The basic body lives on as the Voigtlander Bessa R.
