I think their performance is comparable. A quick look at Gary's lens tests
indicate that the Tamron seems to perform slightly better at wider
aperatures. I think the reason for the higher Tamron prices at auction is
simply because of a larger market due to the adaptall mount, as opposed to a
more limited group of individuals that want the Tokina in OM mount.
