I think it gives preflash every time before true exposure, the preflash is to be used for TTL metering. The built-in flash do the same thing. Every FL40 owner said it is a very valuable tool for E-10 in rec.photo.digital. But before I can sure the FL40 can be used on the new OM SLR digital system I will not buy it.
