I'm fairly new here, so please excuse my ignorance of prior solutions.
A couple things that have worked for me and others I know are (not camera
equip. exclusively): private auctions on ebay and listgroup only offerings.
Both require a fixed pricing scheme with some room to haggle - usually
downward. Of course, this requires that the seller doesn't want to ream the
buyer, only get a fair price or try to provide a deal for the list
"community." I've bought and sold items for "fair" prices and got a few
real steals. Perhaps, I've even provided steals as well... Ebay (not
private) has worked for me in the past, but it can be a crapshoot (as I'm
sure you all know). I've never been anything but completely satisfied with
private or list only sales.
