I noticed that no one has commented on the two 90/2.5's, which was what was
discussed originally. After I had made a comment that I thought the the
differences were probably cosmetic between the two versions (model #52B, 49mm
filter, 420grams, made between 1979 and 1988, and model #52BB, 55mm, 456 Grams,
1988-1996, someone else then made the comment that the first version was better
built. I still believe that the principal change was cosmetic, to better match
the appearance of Tamron's autofocus lenses. The 90/2.8 (model #72B) weighs
about the same as the 52B (426 g.), but is significantly larger/longer;
presumably more plastic.

I've seen one offered on ebay - looks 'chunkier' and is probably heavier. I
didn't know or hadn't registered comments about the f2.8, 1:1 version but
opinion seems to indicate that it wasn't exactly the 'new improved
version.' I thought the original discussion was about the two f2.5
versions.
