I think its pretty much the case that the 50mm focal length lends itself to
more cost effective fast aperatures. Interestingly, Canon seems to offer a
large selection of fast glass...24mm f1.4, 85mm f1.2, and 200mm f1.8 for
example. Above 200mm, the 250 and 350 f2 Zuikos are the fastest I've yet
seen.
