There was a great article in Amateur Photographer (UK) a couple of
weeks ago about metering. It recommended checking that the range of
important exposure values in a scene was no more than 5, before
measuring the darkest or the brightest part *in which you wanted to
have detail*. If you used the darkest, to close down 2 stops; if you
used the brightest, to open up 3 stops.
It's fiddly with an OM2SP, but it works rather well. It made me look
at those points of a scene that I wanted to come out, versus those
parts I did not care about. I have always used Mulit-Spot Auto with
my OM4, but going back to OM2SP Spot/Man was a little testing.
I'll scan the article next weekend if anyone wants me to.
