Mark H. asks:
<< does anyone use the 1-8??? >>
Yup, on a body that I leave mounted to a 600mm Zuiko. Using a 2-4 will
slightly darken the outer 1/3 of the focusing screen. The darkening is
concentric circles which are kind of annoying, although the 2-4 image is
easy to focus. A 1-8 is much more suited to the 600mm.
The 600mm and 1000mm Zuikos demand higher speed film than I normally
shoot. So I load up Provia 400F or a 400-800 speed neg. film to allow
reasonable shutter speeds and hopefully f/8 on the 600mm. Same
situation with the 400mm f/5.6 Noflexar (Novoflex), which is impossible
to use with a 2-4. The quality of these faster films have increased to
the point that slow super telephotos are now much more useful optics.
