>From the Olympus GAQ:
<< The OM-{1(N), 2(N),
10, G, and F) do not have a semi-silvered mirror, and can thus
use linear polarizers without any problem. This problem
reportedly only affects the spot metering modes of the OM-{2S,
3(Ti), 4(Ti), PC and probably OM-2000}. >>
The second sentence of that statement would implicate the secondary 'Fresnel
lens' mirror as the main culprit I would say. The main semi-silvered mirror
might also contribute to the error.
In that case, manual with average metering would be off, and manual in spot
mode might be even more off, but again, the error will likely vary as you
turn the linear polariser round! YUK!
Auto in spot mode might be off too, since the spot readings are taken with
the mirrors down - it will depend on if or how the shutter blind /
Off-The-Film readings modify the exposure after the mirror is raised! YUK!
YUK!
Too complicated by half!!
A circular polariser might save you loads of hassle and worry!
