I think I want an f1.2 but my Jiminy Cricket is chirping "is the $400

(Or is it really 1.5 stops? - hence my question.) Yes, I know
Skip Williams' data says the average price is $260, but dealers
and recent auctions are asking for and getting more. And
I haven't yet got to the dumpster diving stage of Zuikoholism,

really cheap 90mm f2.0s. ;-)

A true Zuikoholic would say, "Damn the expense, full speed ahead."
Actually, I found one in LN- condition when looking for a 50/1.4 MC in EX+
or better condition and immediately bought it. Glad I did because they're
not found very easily. Why? Not as common as the ubiquitous 50/1.8 and
you'll have to wait for the estate sale for those of us that have them.
They are extremely good lenses. Razor sharp stopped down to f/4 and even
wide open at f/1.2 they're still excellent. The performance is pretty
across all the apertures compared to most super-speed standard
lenses. First roll of Kodachrome 64 I shot through mine convinced me
buying it was a good decision!
Do I shoot mine at f/1.2 regularly? No, but it's because the DOF gets
pretty shallow at that aperture but I do use it at f/2 with slower films.
