: I doubt this is an error. The manual clearly states that this is a general
: definition, which has "quite a bit of overlapping". Furthermore, the simple
: fact that the full range of OM gear may not cover the 16X - 30X
: magnifications, does not mean that this range falls out of the macro range.
: One of the things explicitely mentioned in the manual, is that the range of
: macrophotography depends mainly on the way the picture is taken (i.e. with
: what type of gear), rather than purely the amount of magnification.

That makes sense; microphotography simply is photography using a microscope, and
the magnifaction is determined by the combination of objective and eyepiece. The
lowest magnification of microphotography even starts at 3.25x - the 4x objective
which normally is the lowest magnifying objective mounted on microsscopes is not
the lowest available. There exists a Plan Achromat 1.3x, which results in 3.25x
when used with an (N)FK eyepiece 2.5x. This magnification is also the domain of
the
38mm macro!

16.6x is the upper limit of macrophotography as far as OM equipment is
concerned,
using the PMT-35 (unless you find a way of connecting 2 or 3 bellows together
:0)
but maybe 30x can be achieved on LF using an optical bench?
