My question: What should I do? The camera is otherwise absolutely
perfect. Should I have the camera cleaned for this alone. How
difficult is the cleaning? I got it for a reasonable price. I have
never seen this problem before and would appreciate any advice on
what I should do.
Thanks
Dr. Oben O. Candemir MBBS Syd Uni.
It seems to me that a clean, lubrication and adjustment service(CLA)
should be part of buying any used piece of equipment, especially
something as complex as a camera and as old as an OM2SP. How do you
know the shutter speeds are on? If there is fungus that is visible,
how about fungus that is hidden? How about some little part that is
quickly wearing itself out because it has no lubricant? Is the sharp
focus point of the viewfinder the same as the focus on the film
plane? Has oil migrated to within striking distance of the shutter
magnet? Is the meter in correct adjustment and does it correspond
with the film exposure system? The cost of CLA is precious little to
insure against nasty surprises later.
Congratulations on your new toy.
