Yes, I've found it a good focal length for portraits, definitely acceptably
sharp even wide open.  By the way (shameless plug), I have one for sale, I
don't really need 2 of the 3.5s plus a 2.8.

By the way, does anyone have any comments about the Tamron 135mm f2.5 ?
