You are on the money. My OM-4 fails the beep test yet I get 1 year plus out
of the batteries. The camera gets used a lot but by following John H's
recommendations (always put on red 1/60th or B when finished shooting) I
have never had problems. Until I heard his recommendations I was lucky to
get 3 months out of a set of batteries. Am also careful about camera straps
etc resting anywhere near the prism when stashing in the bag (accidnetly
hitting the illuminator button will do it too).
