And I have a OM-4T which fails the battery check test. But it does not seem to
eat batteries.

Subject: Re: [OM] OM-4s and batteries
I am aware that there has been much past discussion here of the dreaded
OM-4 battery-eating problem and how to detect those cameras with updated,
non-battery-draining circuits, i.e., if the battery check self-terminates
after 30 seconds. I don't doubt that this test is reliable; however, I
believe there are OM-4s that fail this test, yet don?t eat batteries.
I have three OM-4s and one OM-4Ti. Two of the OM-4s chew up batteries and
one doesn?t. All fail the 30-second test. The two that eat batteries were
bought new in 1984, Serial Nos. 10235** and 10218**. The other, bought
?like new? in 1991, Serial No. 11088**, operates as long on a set of
batteries as my 4Ti, but will beep forever when the battery check is
activated.
Maybe serial numbers are another clue as to the ?good? OM-4s. Are we
keeping track of this anywhere?
And, no, I?m not volunteering, just asking.
