If you buy a used grip, check around the battery cap for cracks or chipped
plastic. This is the weak area of the design and they are always breaking
there. If so, it's the case of the grip that (in most cases) must be
replaced, not the battery cap.

| The OM-77 flash grip holds the batteries and the little pop up flash. The
battery compartment door was held in place by a couple of little chips of
plastic, which then shredded in short order. Olympus used to ship these out
free for a while. Neither the Flash Grip 300 or the plain grip 100 are
available any more. The best way is to buy another whole body used
somewhere.
