<<An acquaintance has asked me if I know where he can find a battery holder
for an OM77 - he called it a 'flash grip 300' which holds 4 AAA batteries
so I assume it's the main battery carrier for the camera (although the name
is confusing!). He said his disintegrated loudly in camera. Are these
available? Anyone got one from a dead body. He's in Ontario.

The OM-77 flash grip holds the batteries and the little pop up flash. The
battery compartment door was held in place by a couple of little chips of
plastic, which then shredded in short order. Olympus used to ship these out
free for a while. Neither the Flash Grip 300 or the plain grip 100 are
available any more. The best way is to buy another whole body used somewhere.
