My conclusion is use a split image screen for most
accurate focus unless you have corrective lenses in
your eyecup. Thoughts?
Let me say first that I do appreciate your time and effort in this sort of
testing. Without a diopter and using a 1-series screen, it wouldn't matter
what type of screen it was, I'd find it less than ideal.
I always use corrective diopters and I also prefer the 2-13 screen. With
such a bright screen I find that I use the matte portion to focus about 80%
of the time. The split image element is great with wides. But I find I like
to compose and then do the critical focusing. I seem to compose with the
main subject off center most of the time, so the matte does the focusing
work. The 2-13 still covers options very well, and one possibly needs to
remind oneself that the 2-13 is predominantly a matte surface.
What I'd really like though is a 2-10.
