[NOTE: This message has nothing to do with Olympus cameras,
except for the fact that I'm "into" them as a hobbiest. If you're only
interested in talking about Olympus cameras, and other photographic
stuff, please don't read further. Thanks!]
A couple of weeks ago, I announced in the list that my employer, IBM
Canada, offered a "voluntary" career change "opportunity." In other
words, I was told I could accept a severance package, or it would only
be a matter of time and I would be let go without a severance package.
Some choice, eh?
Anyway, today was my last day, and I'm now officially unemployed.
There's an old saying... "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!"
Earlier this week, Cori and I completed the paperwork to start Joinco
Enterprises Inc., a consulting and technology company that will serve
goverments, non-profit corporations, and small businesses. Early next
week, Joinco Enterprises Inc. will sign it's first contract, a consulting
engagement with the Alberta Health (Government of Alberta) for $100K
worth of work between now and Christmas. Joinco is also starting to
work with a regional health authority in Manitoba on a possible
consulting assignment starting in the fall that could be a multi-year
engagement for sums that take my breath away. On the home front,
our domain (joinco.ca) will be registered soon, and our web site
(www.joinco.ca) will be coming online sometime around June 1st.
Lemonade, anyone??? :-)))
On that note, I'm interested in talking to independent I.T. and health
professionals who might be interested in forming strategic partnerships
on projects with Joinco. I'm particularly interested in people with
java/javascript programming experience, database design (particularly
Oracle), and health professionals (e.g. nurses) with community care
and/or continuing care experience.
If you fit into one of the above categories, let's talk! No, I don't have
signed contracts in hand, but there may be some VERY interesting
opportunities on the horizon, and Joinco wants to be ready for them.
Off-list replies to <http="mailto:coneill@xxxxxxxxxxx?subject=Joinco

Sorry for the off-topic message, particularly the plug.
