Hi All,
Thanks Gary for the kind words, the board's are tiny 'cause I
'tried' to design the trigger with M's philosophy of "smaller,
lighter"...
and fit with the OM design (and use off-the-shelf parts)
Note to those zuiks that have a board: before you start to "stuff-em",
might be a good idea to rough-up the copper side to let the solder
stick to it... I've noticed some oxidation in the copper of the boards I
have left, and using a scotch-brite pad or some steel-wool will take
that right off and leave a nice surface for soldering...will bring down
the assembly-frustration level abit I think...
I'm in the process of building another trigger so I can document the
assembly process as promised on the site (and damn me if I can
remember what it was -- Chris help me out here!) I started out using
my CO's Agfa digital camera, but couldn't get close enuf to the board
etc. to get good shots, so will have to learn flash macrophotography
(aww bummers! >;) ) to do the site justice. (the 50/3.5 is perfect for
this tho!...at least what I see in the viewfinder is right [ @ f22 ])
I know you guys (that have boards) are waiting for more info, but I'm
going as fast as I can with what I have, and now have to scan prints
(when I get 'em) instead of just uploading (original plan of last
week-end)
(OT) The reason my daughter thinks I'm NOT a good guy is because
I won't let her friend spend the night tonight instead of tomorrow
night...
12 years old going on 16 (sigh...)

Subject: [OM] Bill Brooks is a good guy
Our friend Bill has graciously developed a lightning trigger for use with
OMs and made circuit boards for the custom circuit at a very reasonable
price for such a short run of parts. Today, my board arrives - and not
only
is a nice piece of work, not only did Bill throw in the two diodes and a
trimmer pot, he soldered said components in place!
Sure is tiny, though, Bill. I think I'll have to spring for a magnifier
on
a headband so that I can see well enough to populate the board with the
rest
of the components. Now where did I leave my pencil soldering iron. . .
