: Just a caution to Mac users, since it has not popped up on the list.
: There is some glitch with my Mac(OS 9.0.4) translating the long DOS
: file names so the links in the HTML Contents file do not work. The
: long HTML file names do not match the shortened names created on the
: Mac. However, Acrobat Reader opens the PDFs with no problem. It is
: probably also a problem with versions of Windows before long file
: names were adopted in W98. The problem is minor and easy to work
: around.
Until Winsor notified me, I was unaware of the problem. The eSIF on CD is
created on an MS Windows 98 machine, and uses Win 95/98 compatible long file
names, not only for the .PDF scans, but all over the eSIF. It uses the exact
structure as the online version. So to get full use of the CD, users of
non-Microsoft OS's should get software to read the original long file names from
the CD ROM when their OS does not support this.
This is the only known problem. The CD does not contain any executables that
depend on DOS or Windows. Acrobat (Reader) should be installed to read and print
the manuals.
