The D 320L I believe doesn't 'need' software to operate. (I have the D360L).
The only software you need is either Olympus' 'Camedia' or some other program
such as 'Photoshop' to view, store, and manipulate the images on your
computer. If he has an owner's manual, that will do, if not, he'll probably
need one if digital is new to him.
