My personal expeience with the 100mm f2.8 has proved it to be an incredibly
sharp lens. It has a very nice perspective as well as contrast. In the
latest set of prints I got back using this lens, I can see the cracks in
brickwork shot at a distance of several metres.

Most of my lenses are 49mm filtered anyway and a small set consisting of:

50mm f1.4
28mm f2
100mm f2.8

is great for most photographic outings and is extremely easy to carry around
without having to duplicate filters.
