There no known "fluid" that will dissolve sand without dissolving the entire 
lens as well. You may as well trash it. You will have to be able to take the 
lens apart at the helicals in order to clean it. If you can't turn it you 
can't take it apart and you can't clean it.  It may make a good loupe though.
