Nice summary of the whole biz with the 35-80/2.8 at the fat end.
I agree that it is better to know what you've got in order to work around
any shortcomings. Since you're going to continue with more formal testing, I
hope you'll try to reach a determination as to what focal length the
distortion goes away. I have to confess that I use this lens more in the
45-80mm range, going to primes for any WA stuff (since I now have a lovely
35/2.8 shift, thanks Ken). But a little of this is for fear of the dreaded
barrel too.
