Kiron make (or used to) a reversing ring called a Reverse Mate that comes
with a separate ring for attaching to the rear of the lens. This converts
the diaphragm to click-stop operation (the diaphragm opens and closes as you
turn the aperture ring). Mr Cad
(http://www.mrcad.co.uk/mrcad/get?iitem_id=22339) has several of these,
scruffy boxes but like new inside.
A manual extension tube does the same, and also protects the rear element.
You can also protect the rear element by turning the focusing ring.
