I've noticed that the pawn shops "uptown" Seattle charge outrageous prices
for junk, even. Higher than full retail on some things. Apparently, they
get a sucker often enough that it pays the rent, which must be high. I
rarely, if ever, find anything in them worth what they're asking.
The pawn shops in the suburbs, however, are much more willing to price fairly
and dicker/deal with you, as a rule. I've gotten some DF deals on tools in
them. But see VERY little Olympus gear. The occasional OM-PC, etc.
Another thing I've learned is that prices/deals will vary widely within the
same shop, depending upon which employee you are dealing with. Some will try
to help you get the best price ("Want to make an offer?"). Others won't lift
a finger for you ("It's $90.00" "Would you take less for it?" "Nope. It's
$90.00"). Egos, personalities, baggage?
