Sa-wut-dee krap, Khun Windsor. There is nothing in Thailand (mai

the 22nd. As you can see, I'm hitting the language tapes already. It
looks like a similar itinerary with Chiang-mai and Bangkok. It's a
three-week guided tour, but has a number of days of *explore on your
own* where I hope to explore at photographically opportune times and
paces. Are there any photographic *must shoots?* Did you get to the
Botanic Gardens in Chiang-mai? Any observations or hints on or off
list would be greatly appreciated. Is carrying a camera relatively
safe? I'm also hoping the dry season will be drier.
Korpkuhn krap.
You are well prepared for the language. Krap for guys and Kah for
women. Ride the tuk-tuks, anywhere. What fun.
Take long tailed boats in the canals to the floating market. Try the
floating market in Bangkok on a sunny day. Very photogenic. There
are balconies overlooking it for nice aerial shots down on the
colorful boats and their wares. I almost did not do the Jim Thompson
house, but it is very worthwhile and you get an inside view of the of
traditional Thai home architecture. Vimanimek Palace is very
interesting to see how westward facing the Thai kings have been. The
setting for the Emerald Buddha is stunning as is the Reclining Buddha
itself.
Be sure to visit the elephants near Chiang Mai. Touristy but so much
fun. Elephants never take a bad picture and the ride through the
forest is great. Missed the botanic gardens and the zoo.
I would say that if you could get down to the river in Bangkok near
sunrise or sunset you might get some nice and unique skyline shots.
Just point your camera anywhere. Wish I were less shy about taking
pics of the people.
I never felt unsafe. Relax and have a good time.
