I've previously found whatever degrading effect occurs from a filter
decreases as you stop down. I can't even detect differences around f/8
to f/16. So when I get a lens in with a filter, I'm just testing it wide
open to show the maximum effect it would have.
Leicaphiles have spoken and I did already know there is a APO Summicron
"replacement." So, perhaps, Leitz has the last word here . . . Unless,
of course, the Leicaphiles have protective UV filters!
