I've had 10 babies, and I've stayed in the hospital anywhere from 20 hours to
4 days, and I prefer the shorter stay.....you only need rest after a normal
delivery and hospitals are no place for rest....someone pops in constantly to
check on this or that. If you have a good support system at home, it's the
best place to recover and REST ! Congrats on the beautiful addition to your
family, Barry !

Chris,
Just because it's 'common practice' doesn't make it a good thing, and it is
NO indication that anyone was doing well. 24 Hrs is just too soon in ALL
cases to tell if ANYONE is doing well, and here in New Jersey it was shown to
be bad medical practice, and only 'good' for the insurance companies. The
moms and babies were being sent home after less than 24 hrs, and were
supposed to get one home 'pop-in' visit from a nurse to check on their
condition. The state enacted a law that did away with the 24 hrs and out
policy, and all new moms now get to stay 48 hrs again.

That's common practice these days, unless there's complications. The fact
that they "sprung her" that quickly is a very *good* sign that both mom and
daughter are doing great!
