I think your no holds barred description of the condition of the
rear element would be rather disconcerting to most would be buyers. Having
said that, I reckon your explicitly mentioning the trial period should help
perk up the interest of any potential buyers on the list.

Over the years I have read with interest, Gary's cautionary advice on
filters, filter ring dents, differences in film reflectance w.r.t OTF
metering systems and his comprehensive lens test reports - his answer
regarding your lens suprised me as well.

My position is, once you've found the lens or body you are interested
in, do a comprehensive test of it yourself with your own gear, against your
own standards. I believe resources such as the opinions expressed on this
list and Gary's (and other) lens tests can be good general indicators of the
potential of a lens and other gear. More importantly though, the specific
piece of gear in your hot little hands may not be representative of the
general trend, hence where possible, find out for yourself and a report of
your findings to the list would be nice too 8^).

Regarding William Biesele's (sp?) misbehaving lens (I apologise for
being unable to locate the thread about it, from the previous digests) my
Kiron 70-210F4 exhibited similar behavior and I resorted to bending it's
aperture lever somewhat to get it working on all my OM bodies. Hope that
helps. BTW I find the Kiron Zoom is a very capable performer - good
contrast and sharpness as far as I can tell from the projected slides - I
invite you to try one for yourself, see what you think.

Regards
SC.
