A short update on my Tamron SP 35-105/2.8.
I got a refund of $10 from the store that sold it, in return for a cancellation
of the (relatively worthless) 3 months guarantee. Then I got it repaired by the
Danish Tamron importer for $55 (it had a not-quite-round zoom barrel, maybe from
a drop). The zoom action is now OK, so I have a really good 35-105/2.8 for $110.
I expect to use it as my standard lens (in competition with my 35-70/3.6).

could see that it had a pretty good specification. I am pleased to hear that it
is even better (and more expensive!) than I expected.

: However, I have now been offered a Tamron SP 35-105/2.8 Aspherical, for the
: princely sum of $65. Do you (or anyone else) know anything about the
performance
: of this lens?
>Do you mean it was offered to you for $65 and you hesitated and didn't even buy
>it? I can't believe some people. This lens is in the same quality range as the
>Zuiko 35-80mm/F2.8 and it costed about $1200 when new. It is my standard lens
>and thought that the $500 I paid for it (NIB) already was a steal deal...
