I'm sure there are scientific ways of checking....but...as long as I get
an image on the film that is as I expect it to be (exposure-wise), I
assume the camera to be ok. I regularly check that my hand-held light
meter and my cameras light meters are in rough agreement too.
As for the precise checking, I usually ask the Olympus repair-guys in
Denmark to do so. And, as stated otherwise, I take the cameras for a
"health-check" every 3-5 years (CLA).
If a camera needs more attention than that, then I call it Canon and
dispose of it ;)
