I just bought a six-inch Orion telescope. I will try wildlife pictures from
my house but it is way too bulky to pack around for field use. I suspect
heat waves will be a significant problem in warmer weather. Got to try it

Actually, the closest thing you'll get to that is probably a telescope. You
can get reflectors at a very fast f/4 and looong focal lengths. Right now
using my C-5 at 1250mm, terrestrial photos are so compressed that they look,
well, for lack of a better way to put it, 3-D'ish with the background waaay
out of focus. Kinda cool, but an unwieldy setup for everyday use.
