Hi Mike:
<< Has anybody on this list actually seen, owned or used a Zuiko
1000/f11? At 4150g (9lbs 2oz) and 662mm (26") with a 100mm filter, my
next question would be WHY? >>
Sure, for a lens test. Had a heck of a time finding a building long
enough to do an indoor lens test. Required a roller skating rink. In
real world comparison, a 5 foot high kid would fill the frame standing
outside the opposite end of a ice hockey/roller skating rink.
The rack and pinon focusing was wierd to use. The image is a mess on a 2
series screen - it demands a 1-8. It is hard to frame because the weight
causes settling by the time you lock the two tripod heads (i.e., your
subject centering drifts). The slightest jaring of a tripod leg will
mess up your framing and it'll take a few minutes of fine adjustments to
get it back. Plus, a two tripods technique can potentially put strain on
the lens mount.
Not a lens for moving subjects.
