Cotton buds are useful too - not the regular, round ear cleaning type but
the 'make-up' style which have a pointed bud on one end and a flattened pad
on the other - great for cleaning right up to the rim or in cracks!

ps Metholated spirits = diluted, denatured alcohol, before we get into that
problem again! Purer solvents are better.
