I've read here and there that certain Nikkor macro lenses will actually
change their focal length as they approach maximum magnification. For
instance, the vaunted 105/2.8 MF Micro-Nikkor has a focal length closer to
80mm at 1:1. Honestly, I don't really understand this, but I thought I
should report this fact in case it's helpful to anyone regarding the
excerpt below.
