Ever try a pad (friction, compressible) between the head and camera? I
poked a hole in a piece of cardboard and stuck in over the screw. It works;
I still use a variation of that trick, even with my Bogen (because the same
slippage occurs with it). I've taped a piece of cardboard, cut to size, to
the QR plate. I've considered trying a piece of bicycle tire tube. A side
benefit is that I never have scratches on my cameras' base plates from
contact with the tripod head.
