IMHO, ease of focus is a combination of:
1. an aperture that gives shallow depth of field
2. a viewfinder with the correct dioptric correction for your eye
3. a lens with a high SQF grade wide open
4. a high tech (Acutte Matte, 2 series, what-ever you want to name it)
focusing screen suitable for the lens in use
5. a contrasty subject with fine detail (for matte screens) or straight
lines (for split-image biprism screens).
When all 5 are in play, life is grand.
