I know this feeling well..when I travel to Hong Kong I love to go to the Jade
Market...I take a calculator and punch in a bid, then give it to the vendor
and it's a lot of fun, and hillarious seeing them try to do their sales
antics without use of a language with pantomine. I wag my head "no" and start
to leave, sometimes even going 2-3 booths down before they'll come after me
and offer what I wanted. It can be a real ruch to get it at 300f the
original offer...
Then, later, sitting in a restaurant, you'll look out at the boat people and
wonder if you're a cad...
