if they do, they certainly are not astute businessmen, as the overhead on
eBay is far less than the average retailer/antique mart/pawn shop's overhead.
<<It is a case of cyclic supply and demand.>>
as are the sales on eBay..those of us that have been buying or selling a
while can see the many ups and downs of the seasons. In the case of the
college students it is a matter of location, not cycles. As a retailer you're
damned is you do, damned if you don't..if you start with a high price, it may
sit and eat up your capital. If you mark it too low, it'll walk with little
profit. I've gotten many a bargain from a shop owner who has had the item on
the shelf for over a year and realizes he marked it way to high. For that
purpose, Skip's prices are great. But I suspect those days are about over, as
they all have heard of eBay, and these eBay-educated customers have been
gleaning the shelves for the last couple of years.
Seem's the pawn shops around here either despise eBay or have tossed in the
towel and are selling on eBay...shame too..before they had heard of it (a
couple of years ago) it was a much better bargain...but probably evens out as
we now can ask for better pricing.
